My Favorite Adventure Travel Essentials

Want to make packing painless? Here are my favorite adventure travel essentials! Easy to spot luggage, backpacks with ALL the pockets, comfy gear, and more!

LOVEVOOK Carry on Backpack

The workhorse of travel backpacks: so many pockets to stay organized. Separate laptop compartment, fits under your seat, size approved by most airlines to be your personal item! I personally have the grey-brown combo and love the gold zippers. Easy to coordinate with any travel day outfit. Looking for something a little more unisex? Try the one my boyfriend has linked here!

American Tourister Star Wars Hardside Luggage with Spinner Wheels

May the force be with you on every travel day! Easy to spot luggage for those days when the airline insists you check your carry-on bag. I have had my BB-8 version of this bag for a decade and it has been a faithful droid–err–piece of luggage to this day. When checking luggage becomes a nuisance and you learn to get away with just a carry-on and personal item for a week or two in Europe, this bag will come in clutch!

Apple AirTag

Zip one of these inside the lining of your luggage to track it. Airlines have misplaced my bags one too many times… I now can rest easily on the flight knowing I have a way to track my carry-on’s location when “the overhead bins are all full” (how many times have we all heard that one before…)!

Skechers Women’s On-the-go 600 – Brilliancy Sport Sandal

I have tried different brands of sandals for traveling. When I walk 10,000+ steps a day on most travel days abroad, I need a pair of sandals that will be cute and functional and COMFY. I have hiked to a waterfall in Morocco and climbed a temple in Vietnam in my Skechers sandals. Now you can, too!

Passport Holder

My passport is one of my most prized possessions. As such, I like to keep it safe while traveling in a passport holder! A good cover will also double as a place to store train tickets, visa cards, museum stubs, etc. Since everyone’s style is different, here are a few of my favorite finds:

Travel Reads

My favorite adventure travel essentials would be incomplete without a recommended reading list! I’m old school when it comes to reading. I like to have a physical book on hand no matter how long or short the journey. Here is a list of my favorite book-shaped travel companions:

  • The Cloisters: A Novel by Katy Hays – This instant New York Times bestseller that is “captivating in every sense of the word” (Sarah Pearse, New York Times bestselling author) follows a group of researchers uncovering a mysterious deck of tarot cards and shocking secrets in New York’s famed Met Cloisters.
  • Neverwhere: A Novel by Neil Gaiman – Under the streets of London there’s a world most people could never even dream of. A city of monsters and saints, murderers and angels. This is the city of the people who have fallen between the cracks. A single act of kindness to a ragged girl he finds injured on the street catapults young businessman Richard Mayhew out of his workaday life into a world that is both familiar and threateningly bizarre.
  • The Night Circus: A Novel by Erin Morgenstern – NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Two starcrossed magicians engage in a deadly game of cunning in the spellbinding novel that captured the world’s imagination. • “Part love story, part fable … defies both genres and expectations.” —The Boston Globe

Bookish accessories that I can’t live without:

  • 3 Pack Book Protector Pouch Sleeve with Zipper – Pack without fear knowing your precious paperbacks are safely zipped away in these cute book sleeves!
  • Book Journal – With an index in the front and enough reflection pages to log 100 different books, this reading journal will help you track progress towards completing your yearly reading goal while documenting your favorite parts.
